Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education, Harini Amarasuriya says the government remains committed to safeguarding education during any global crisis, emphasizing that significant budget allocations have been made for human capital development despite economic challenges.

She made these remarks while attending the inauguration of a newly constructed three-storey building at Al-Mubarak College in Dadalla, Galle.

The Prime Minister praised the local community for its collective effort in constructing the building and highlighted the government's ongoing education reforms aimed at equipping students with modern technology. She noted that all secondary schools are being provided with at least one smart board, while internet access has already been extended to around 4,000 schools, with the remaining schools expected to be connected before the end of the year.

Amarasuriya stressed that technology should be used as a tool to enhance learning and said initiatives such as teacher training and connected classrooms are being implemented to improve digital education.

She further stated that education remains a national priority and that the government is committed to ensuring quality learning opportunities for all students while working towards the country's long-term development goals.
