According to the latest trade data, the country earned approximately US$5.78 billion in total export revenue from January to April 2026, marking a 4.3 percent increase compared to the corresponding period in 2025.
In April 2026 alone, total export earnings reached US$1.38 billion, representing a 6 percent year-on-year growth. Merchandise exports accounted for US$1.06 billion during the month, recording a notable 9.87 percent increase, while services exports contributed an estimated US$317 million.
Cumulative merchandise export earnings for the January–April period rose to US$4.52 billion, reflecting a 4.8 percent increase from the same period last year. Meanwhile, services exports generated US$1.26 billion, supporting the country’s broader export growth momentum.
The latest figures highlight continued expansion in Sri Lanka’s export sector, driven by stronger merchandise trade performance and sustained growth in services exports. Analysts note that the upward trend could provide additional support to foreign exchange inflows and overall economic recovery efforts in 2026.
