During the meeting, both sides emphasized expanding collaboration beyond undergraduate studies to include postgraduate education and specialized training programmes. Belarus was highlighted as an important destination for Sri Lankan students, particularly in the field of medical education, with more than 3,000 Sri Lankan students currently pursuing higher studies at Belarusian universities.
The discussions also covered enhanced cooperation in the health sector, including medical technology, affordable pharmaceutical supply, joint ventures in drug manufacturing, and the exchange of expertise in health management and medical training. Sri Lanka expressed readiness to share its traditional knowledge in Ayurveda and wellness.
The two sides also noted the signing of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) to further strengthen cooperation in higher education and healthcare sectors between Sri Lanka and Belarus.
