Health and Media Minister to attend 21st Asian Media Summit in Maldives

Sri Lanka’s Minister of Health and Mass Media, Nalinda Jayatissa, is scheduled to leave the country today (12) to participate in the 21st Asian Media Summit currently being held at Villa Nautica in the Maldives.

The summit, which commenced yesterday (11), will continue until May 14 and brings together policymakers, media owners, journalists, communication researchers, and observers representing a number of Asian countries.

In addition to representatives from the Maldivian government, the event is being attended by several prominent regional figures, including the Information and Broadcasting Minister of Bangladesh, the Secretary-General of BIMSTEC, the Secretary-General of SAARC, and the State Secretary for Social Communication of Timor-Leste.

Minister Jayatissa is also scheduled to deliver the keynote address during the fourth session of the summit. His speech will focus on media policy, public information dissemination, media professionalism, and the responsibilities of communication in serving public interests.
