The National Dengue Control Unit of the Ministry of Health says 42 dengue high-risk zones have been identified across Sri Lanka.

Acting Director of the unit, Dr. Kapila Kannangara, stated that 27,465 dengue infections have been reported so far this year, while 14 deaths linked to the disease have also been confirmed.

He cautioned that the current rainy weather could contribute to a further increase in dengue cases in the coming weeks.

According to health authorities, the highest number of dengue patients has been reported from Colombo District, Gampaha District and Kalutara District.

Officials said 5,930 cases were reported from Colombo District, 4,465 from Gampaha District and 1,572 from Kalutara District.
