The trade union had launched a 48-hour token strike at 8.00 a.m. on April 9, citing concerns over the Ministry of Health’s alleged failure to honor agreements related to the appointment of post-intern medical officers. The dispute centered on administrative decisions that the GMOA claimed were inconsistent with previously established procedures.
During the strike period, hospitals nationwide experienced significant disruptions, with routine services affected and patients facing delays in receiving treatment. Emergency services, however, were reportedly maintained to a certain extent.
The GMOA stated that the decision to call off the strike was made following discussions and reassurances regarding the issues raised. Further engagement between the association and health authorities is expected in the coming days to prevent similar conflicts in the future.
Healthcare services are anticipated to gradually return to normal operations following the conclusion of the strike.
