A protest was held today near the Parliament entrance at Polduwa Junction, calling for the resignation of Energy Minister Kumara Jayakody. The demonstration was organized by the Joint Opposition and drew the participation of several opposition Members of Parliament.

In addition to politicians, a number of members of the public also joined the protest, expressing their dissatisfaction over the issue.

The protesters demand that the government has suffered losses amounting to billions of rupees due to an alleged substandard coal procurement scam. They urged the government, led by the President, to take immediate action and remove the subject minister from his post.
