The new plan is designed to support the goals of the National Policy on Early Childhood Care and Development, which aims to create an environment that enables every Sri Lankan child to reach their full potential.
Developed with the participation of all relevant stakeholders, the five-year strategic plan focuses on delivering essential services in health, nutrition, education, social welfare, care, and protection, with particular emphasis on vulnerable and disadvantaged children.
The initiative seeks to promote a holistic and inclusive approach to child development, ensuring that every child has access to the care and resources necessary for a healthy start in life.
Accordingly, the Cabinet of Ministers has approved the proposal presented by the Acting Minister of Women and Child Affairs to implement the plan, marking a major milestone in Sri Lanka’s ongoing efforts to enhance early childhood well-being and development nationwide.
