Sri Lanka’s export sector has shown continued stability and consistent growth during the period from January to September 2025, recording a total income of USD 12,986.52 million, according to the Export Development Board (EDB).

This marks a 7% increase compared to the same period in 2024. In September 2025 alone, total exports including both merchandise and services reached USD 1,469.75 million, reflecting a 12.33% growth compared to September 2024.

The EDB noted that this performance demonstrates the effectiveness of strategic initiatives implemented to strengthen Sri Lanka’s export sector, enhance market access, and improve global competitiveness.

Commenting on the achievement, EDB Chairman Mangala Yapa stated:

“The growth in the export sector reflects Sri Lanka’s deeper integration into global trade and the success of our continuous efforts to enhance export competitiveness and diversify market opportunities.

Despite global challenges, our exporters have once again shown remarkable resilience.

Achieving nearly USD 13 billion in total export earnings by September 2025 stands as testimony to the strength and determination of our export community.

With over 72% of our annual export target already achieved by the end of the third quarter, we are confident that Sri Lanka will successfully reach its 2025 export goals through sustained collaboration and strategic initiatives.”

This performance underscores the resilience and adaptability of Sri Lanka’s export community amid global economic fluctuations and reaffirms the country’s commitment to expanding its footprint in international markets.
