The Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) has announced a special bus service to facilitate the high volume of travelers during the festive season. Starting today, the SLTB has introduced 50 additional buses daily, a move aimed at easing congestion and ensuring smooth travel across the country until the end of the holiday period.
Panduka Swarnahansa, Deputy General Manager of the SLTB, confirmed that the fleet's capacity has been increased with more buses deployed on key routes. Additionally, there will be a rise in the number of buses operating on the expressway to accommodate passengers heading to and from various destinations.
In response to the anticipated demand for return trips, Swarnahansa added that a special bus service will operate on Mondays during the final week of the holiday season, assisting those who traveled to their villages to return to Colombo.
On the railway front, N.J. Indipolage, Deputy General Superintendent of Railways, also confirmed that several special trains would be added to the schedule for the festive season. This initiative is aimed at ensuring that both bus and rail services run efficiently during the peak travel period.
With these enhanced transportation options, authorities aim to provide a smoother and more convenient travel experience for the public throughout the festive season.
