Suranjith Wewita has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA).
Mr. Wewita, who also serves as a member of the Presidential Task Force, has more than 20 years of experience in various sectors of banking.
He was also recognized in 2013 as the Best Dairy-Based Products Entrepreneur in the Central Province.
An alumnus of St. Mary’s College, Kegalle, Wewita has experience in several fields, including serving as a licensed tourism guide lecturer.
His appointment follows the resignation of former SLTDA Chairman Buddhika Hewawasam on August 17, citing personal and professional reasons.
Hewawasam had formally informed the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Employment of his resignation in writing, creating the vacancy that led to Wewita’s appointment.
