The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) will commence oral public consultations on the proposed electricity tariff revision starting December 27.
The consultations will be held across all nine provinces, beginning with the Central Province in Kandy on December 27. The schedule for the remaining provinces includes:
• Uva Province: December 31 in Monaragala
• Sabaragamuwa Province: January 3 in Ratnapura
• North Central Province: January 5 in Anuradhapura
• Northern Province: January 6 in Jaffna
• Eastern Province: January 8 in Batticaloa
• Western Province: January 10 in Colombo
The PUCSL’s draft proposal suggests an 11% reduction in electricity tariffs. However, the Ceylon Electricity Board has proposed keeping the current tariffs unchanged for the first half of 2025.
These public consultations aim to gather input from stakeholders and citizens before finalizing any changes to the tariff structure.
