Kalutara South Police are investigating an incident involving shots being fired at a tourist hotel in the Katukurunda area of Kalutara. According to the police, a group of young people who were drinking alcohol on the beach in front of the hotel reportedly initiated a confrontation with the hotel's security officers.

Initial reports indicate that tensions escalated when a security guard was attacked by members of the group. In an effort to defuse the situation, a senior hotel official, who was present on-site, fired shots into the air using his registered firearm. 

Fortunately, there have been no reports of injuries from the incident, and the group of young people fled the scene following the shooting.

The police were alerted to the situation after receiving a complaint via the emergency number 119. Authorities have launched an investigation into the matter, seeking to clarify the circumstances surrounding the altercation and the use of the firearm.
