Former Director of the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD), Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Neville Silva, has been further remanded until December 30.
ASP Silva was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on December 9 at the Police Field Force Headquarters and was first produced in court on December 10.
The CID investigation stemmed from a complaint alleging that ASP Silva acted in a biased manner during an investigation at the CCD in August 2023.
The inquiry revealed that he had aided and abetted in an abduction and wrongful confinement related to the case.
Initially, Silva was remanded until December 20, and the court has now extended his remand. Further legal proceedings are expected in the coming days.
