The Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka has pledged to provide aid packages to 2,000 families in the Eastern Province affected by heavy rains and adverse weather conditions.
Eastern Province Governor, Professor Jayanthalal Ratnasekara, confirmed that the aid packages will be distributed promptly once received. The relief efforts will cover all three districts of the province.
The Governor also stated that instructions have been given to relevant authorities to implement measures aimed at reducing natural disasters in the region.
He noted that special attention is being paid to areas where water levels have remained high for extended periods, causing prolonged submersion.
