The Supreme Court has finished hearing petitions requesting the re-conduct of the Grade Five Scholarship Examination, held on September 15.

The court announced that the judgment will be delivered on December 31.

The hearings, which spanned three days, were presided over by a three-member bench comprising Justices Yasantha Kodagoda, Kumudini Wickremasinghe, and Arjuna Obeysekere.

The petitions, submitted by parents and candidates who took the exam, called for an interim injunction to cancel the first paper, which they claimed was problematic, and to conduct a fresh examination for that paper.

The final decision is now awaited, with expectations running high among the affected students and their families.
