The government will withdraw tri-forces personnel assigned to protect former presidents starting next week, Minister of Public Security Ananda Wijepala announced during today's (December 17) parliamentary session.
He stated that police security will continue to be provided to former presidents, with the level of protection determined by security assessments conducted every six months.
The Minister emphasized that the new arrangement aligns with recommendations based on these periodic evaluations, ensuring that security needs are appropriately met while rationalizing the use of resources.
