Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is expected to undertake an official visit to Sri Lanka during the first week of September, according to Indian media reports.
A discussion on the proposed visit was recently held between the High Commission of India in Colombo and Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Defence.
During the visit, Singh is expected to hold bilateral discussions with President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and other senior government officials.
The talks are expected to focus on joint operations between the two countries, training programmes and regional security issues.
Singh was also scheduled to visit Sri Lanka in September 2023, but the planned visit was subsequently cancelled.
