The event, organized by the Health Promotion Bureau of the Ministry of Health and Mass Media, will officially unveil a series of key communication guidelines and research reports aimed at the general public, the school system, and young people across the country.
The initiative marks an important milestone in strengthening the health, dignity, safety, and well-being of Sri Lankan children and adolescents through evidence-based communication and education.
Among the key publications and initiatives to be launched are:
National Communication Guideline on Age-Appropriate Sexuality Education
Report of the National Study on Menstrual Health and Hygiene in Sri Lanka
Grade 6 & 7 Teachers' Handbook on Age-Appropriate Sexuality Education Communication
Signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to Develop the TVET Sector as a Health-Promoting Setting
According to the Health Promotion Bureau, the primary objective of the programme is to empower young people with accurate knowledge and effective communication on sexuality education, thereby fostering a healthier, better-informed, and more responsible generation.
The Bureau also emphasized that all relevant stakeholders are expected to adopt and implement the newly introduced national communication guidelines following their official launch.
Minister of Women and Child Affairs Saroja Savithri Paulraj, senior officials from the Ministries of Health and Mass Media, Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education, as well as members of the diplomatic community, including ambassadors, are expected to attend the ceremony.
