Her Excellency Ms. Dewi Gustina Tobing, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Sri Lanka met with the  Secretary to the Prime Minister, Mr. Pradeep Saputhanthri at the Prime Minister's Office yesterday (14).

During the cordial discussions, both sides reaffirmed the longstanding bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and Indonesia and noted that the two countries will commemorate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2027. 

The discussions highlighted the importance of expanding cultural exchanges and strengthening people-to-people connectivity, particularly through tourism, as key avenues for enhancing mutual understanding and friendship between the peoples of the two countries. Both sides reviewed existing trade and economic cooperation. 

The Ambassador expressed Indonesia's interest in expanding collaboration in the textile and pharmaceutical sectors, recognizing the significant potential for increased partnership.

The meeting also explored opportunities to strengthen cooperation in agriculture through the exchange of expertise, knowledge, and best practices.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Yadi Suriahadi, Counsellor of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Colombo, and Ms. Sagarika Bogahawatta, Additional Secretary to the Prime Minister and Mr. Mahesh premathilaka, Director (South East and Central Asia) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
