Former Minister Wimal Weerawansa's brother, Sarath Weerawansa, has been arrested by the Police Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) in connection with an ongoing investigation into the alleged misuse of vehicles and fuel belonging to the State Engineering Corporation.
According to police, the investigation relates to the period when Wimal Weerawansa served as a Cabinet Minister. Authorities allege that vehicles and fuel owned by the State Engineering Corporation were improperly used during that time.
Police stated that Sarath Weerawansa was taken into custody as part of the investigation and is scheduled to be produced before the relevant court.
