According to the Ministry, applications are now being accepted for both scholarship schemes, with the deadline set for 10 July 2026.
Eligible applicants include journalists aged between 18 and 55 years who have completed at least two years of service and are currently employed on a full-time or part-time basis in recognized print or electronic media institutions in Sri Lanka. Applicants must also possess a valid media identity card issued by the Government Information Department for the 2025/2026 period.
The Ministry stated that the course of study applied for must be relevant to the media field.
Under the Asidisi Journalism Scholarship Programme, financial assistance of up to Rs. 700,000 will be awarded for PhD studies. Scholarships of up to Rs. 350,000 will be available for Master’s and Bachelor’s degree programmes, while up to Rs. 200,000 will be granted for postgraduate diplomas, diplomas, and long-term or short-term certificate courses.
Applicants to the Asidisi Journalism Scholarship Programme may also apply for the Asidisi Technical Scholarship Programme. However, the combined maximum financial assistance available under both programmes is Rs. 350,000, and applicants are not permitted to seek funding from both schemes for courses covering the same field of study.
Scholarship recipients will be selected through interviews conducted by a selection committee appointed by the Secretary to the Ministry of Health and Mass Media.
Completed applications for the Asidisi Journalism Scholarship Programme should be addressed to the Director (Media), while applications for the Asidisi Technical Scholarship Programme should be sent to the Director (Development). Applications must reach the Ministry on or before 10 July 2026.
