According to the association, several rounds of discussions had been held with relevant authorities regarding their demands. However, the promises made during those negotiations have yet to be implemented, leading engineers to commence union action.

President of the RDA Engineers’ Association, Umesh Aluthapala stated that RDA engineers would withdraw from participation in external committees, including District Coordination Committees and Divisional Coordination Committees.

He further noted that engineers have also decided to refrain from carrying out duties that are not formally assigned under the RDA Act, even if such responsibilities had previously been undertaken in consideration of national requirements and were not directly related to the Road Development Authority.

The association emphasized that the trade union action would continue until satisfactory solutions are provided to address their concerns.
