Heavy rainfall has caused flooding in several parts of Colombo, resulting in severe traffic congestion and disrupting vehicle movement along key roads.

Police said several roads have been inundated following the downpour, causing significant delays for motorists and commuters.

Among the affected areas are Armour Street–Barber Junction in the Grandpass Police Division and the vicinity of Jethawana Temple, where flooding has led to heavy traffic congestion. Motorists have been advised to use alternative routes to avoid delays.

Flooding has also been reported along a section of Sangharaja Mawatha, while roads in the Maligawatte Cemetery area have been submerged, affecting traffic movement in and out of Colombo.

Authorities have urged motorists to exercise caution and use alternative routes where possible as heavy rainfall continues to affect road conditions.
