The Sri Lankan traditional dance team that participated in the 8th International Pearl Traditional Dance Competition 2026 in Thailand has returned to the country after securing first place at the competition.

The event was held in Pattaya, Thailand, with traditional dance teams from 14 countries taking part.

In addition to winning the overall first place, the Sri Lankan team also received awards for Best Costume Design and Creative Dance Performance.

Sri Lankan dancers Sehitha Dasidu and Sethum Nevijan were also recognised as the best dancers at the competition.

The team arrived at Bandaranaike International Airport at around 11.25 p.m. yesterday (03) on Thai AirAsia flight FD-140 from Bangkok.

A large number of parents of the team members were present at the airport to welcome the victorious dancers back to Sri Lanka.
