The Court of Appeal today issued an open warrant for the arrest of Ven. Galagodaaththe Gnanasara Thera after he failed to appear before the court for the second consecutive day in connection with contempt of court proceedings.
The court ordered that the warrant be executed through the Inspector General of Police (IGP).
The order was issued by a two-judge Bench comprising Justice Mayadunne Corea and Justice Lakmali Karunanayake.
The proceedings concern allegations of contempt of court, with the Thera’s continued absence from court prompting the latest order.
