The Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court has ordered the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to arrest Thilini Priyamali, owner of Thiko Group of Companies, over allegations of financial fraud involving millions of rupees.

The order was issued after two individuals who had reportedly stood as sureties for the suspect informed court that they had not provided the relevant surety bonds.

The case relates to several financial fraud charges filed against Priyamali and five others. Several of the suspects failed to appear in court today, while their sureties appeared on their behalf.

Meanwhile, Janaki Siriwardena, another suspect who is currently in remand custody, was reported to be in custody in connection with a separate case, according to her lawyer.

Ven. Boralle Sirisumana Thera, who has been released on bail in connection with the case, appeared before court and was granted permission to travel overseas.

The Magistrate ordered that all cases against Priyamali and the other suspects be called again on March 31 next year.
