7,647 child abuse complaints received so far this year

The National Child Protection Authority (NCPA) says it has received 7,647 complaints related to child abuse so far this year.

Director of Law Enforcement at the NCPA, Attorney-at-Law Sajeewani Abeykoon, said the complaints include cases involving child vulnerability, physical and psychological abuse, and other forms of child abuse.

She urged the public to report suspected cases of child abuse through the NCPA’s 1929 hotline.
