Sri Lanka’s first Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), aimed at increasing renewable energy capacity and strengthening the stability of the country’s electricity grid, will be inaugurated in Anuradhapura this morning (18) under the patronage of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
The project is being implemented as part of the government’s efforts to expand the use of renewable energy and enhance the reliability of the national power system.
Meanwhile, the “Diyajanani” floating solar power system, constructed on the Ibbankatuwa Reservoir in Dambulla under the government’s national renewable energy programme, is scheduled to be inaugurated this afternoon (18).
The ceremony will be held under the patronage of President Dissanayake, with the participation of Minister of Ports, Civil Aviation and Energy Anura Karunatilaka.
