Sri Lanka has welcomed more than 1.6 million tourists so far this year, according to the latest figures released by the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA).
A total of 1,609,759 tourist arrivals were recorded between January 1 and September 14, according to the latest report.
Meanwhile, 74,637 tourists visited Sri Lanka during the first 14 days of September alone.
India continued to be the leading source market, with 408,024 Indian nationals arriving in Sri Lanka so far this year.
The United Kingdom ranked second with 155,798 arrivals, followed by China with 105,294 and Germany with 94,007.
India also recorded the highest number of tourist arrivals during the first 14 days of September, with 22,541 Indian visitors travelling to Sri Lanka during the period.
The latest figures highlight the continued growth of Sri Lanka’s tourism sector, with arrivals steadily moving towards the country’s annual target.
