The annual feast of the historic and sacred Shrine of Our Lady of Madhu in Mannar will be celebrated in grand scale tomorrow (15), with preparations now in place for the main religious ceremonies.
The principal Holy Mass marking the Feast of the Assumption of Our Lady of Madhu, celebrated annually on August 15, is scheduled to be held tomorrow morning.
Hundreds of thousands of devotees from across the country have already gathered at the Madhu Shrine to participate in the celebrations.
The feast, which brings together people from all communities in Sri Lanka, has become a significant religious symbol of national unity, peace and brotherhood.
Special arrangements have also been made by government authorities and security personnel to ensure the welfare, health and safety of the pilgrims attending the feast.
Accordingly, facilities including clean drinking water, sanitation, first-aid and medical services, as well as enhanced police security, are being provided and coordinated through the Mannar District Secretariat and the relevant Divisional Secretariat.
Authorities have urged devotees to cooperate with officials and security personnel while attending the annual feast.
