Sri Lanka “A” secured a commanding 6-wicket win against Afghanistan “A” in today’s match of the “A” team tri-nation One Day Cricket Tournament held in the UAE.

Afghanistan “A” skipper won the toss and opted to bat first. The team posted a total of 248 for 8 in their allotted 50 overs. Despite the solid effort with the bat, the Sri Lankan bowlers put up a disciplined performance. Dilshan Madushanka led the attack with a brilliant four-wicket haul, while Mohammed Shiraz chipped in with two crucial wickets.

Chasing a target of 249, Sri Lanka “A” delivered a confident batting performance, reaching the target in just 41.3 overs with 6 wickets in hand. Opener Lahiru Udara top-scored with a fluent 81, anchoring the chase. Captain Sadeera Samarawickrama played a pivotal role in the middle order and was rightly adjudged the Man of the Match for his composed leadership and performance.

On the bowling front for Afghanistan “A”, Khaleel Ahmed picked up 2 wickets, but his efforts were not enough to restrict the Sri Lankan side.

With this win, Sri Lanka “A” strengthens its position in the tournament and gains valuable momentum moving forward.
