Fatal Collision on Kantale-Trincomalee Road: One Dead, 20 Injured

According to police reports, the accident occurred when a cab traveling from Agbopura towards Kantale collided with a bus moving in the same direction. Following the initial impact, the bus veered into oncoming traffic and collided with a lorry approaching from the opposite direction.

Emergency services responded promptly, and all injured passengers including the bus driver and several children were rushed to the Kantale Hospital for treatment. The bus driver succumbed to his injuries after admission.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident to determine the cause of the collision. Traffic on the Kantale-Trincomalee road was temporarily disrupted but has since resumed under police supervision.

Residents and local officials are urging drivers to exercise greater caution on this frequently traveled route, especially during festive and high-traffic periods.
