
Showers and Thundershowers Expected Across Several Provinces

Fairly heavy rainfall, exceeding 50 mm, is likely in parts of the Southern, Sabaragamuwa, Uva, and Central provinces, and the Ampara district.
Misty conditions are also expected during the morning hours in Sabaragamuwa, Central, and Uva provinces.
The public is advised to take necessary precautions to minimize the risk of damage caused by localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Marine Weather Forecast – 10 April 2025
The Department of Meteorology has issued a 24-hour marine weather forecast for sea areas surrounding the island.
Rainfall:
Showers or thundershowers are expected in the sea areas off the coast from Colombo to Pottuvil via Galle. Other sea areas around the island may also experience isolated showers or thundershowers during the evening or night.
Winds:
Winds will be Westerly to South-westerly at speeds of 25-35 kmph. However, wind speeds may pick up to 45-50 kmph at times, particularly in sea areas from Kankesanthurai to Pottuvil via Puttalam, Galle, and Hambantota.
Sea Conditions:
The sea areas from Kankesanthurai to Pottuvil via Puttalam, Galle, and Hambantota will be fairly rough at times. Other areas will remain slight to moderate.
Caution is advised during thundershowers, as temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas are likely.
Those engaging in maritime activities are urged to take necessary precautions.
