The National Narcotics Control Board (NNCB) held its annual review meeting at the Suhurupaya Auditorium in Battaramulla, with the active participation of various officials and experts in the field. The meeting provided a platform for discussing the progress and effectiveness of the country's drug prevention and treatment programs.

During the event, key stakeholders presented their views on the ongoing efforts to combat drug abuse across the nation. Notably, attention was drawn to the progress made by external service officers and development officers at the district and divisional secretary levels in implementing drug prevention and treatment initiatives.

Additionally, participants highlighted the importance of strengthening these efforts in the coming years, outlining key strategies for future programs aimed at curbing narcotic drug abuse in Sri Lanka.

One of the significant topics discussed was the critical responsibility of the National Narcotics Control Board in eradicating illicit narcotics from the country. The board’s pivotal role in supporting national efforts to eliminate drug trafficking and misuse was emphasized by several participants.

The event was attended by several high-ranking officials, including Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs Ananda Wijepala, Hon. Sunil Watagala, Deputy Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs, Mr. Ravi Senewiratna, Secretary to the Ministry of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs, and numerous senior officials from various government sectors. Their presence underscored the importance of collaborative efforts in the fight against drug abuse and its harmful effects on society.
