India has emerged as the top source market, with 39,212 Indian nationals visiting the island nation. Following closely behind, Russia contributed 29,177 tourists, solidifying its position as a key market for Sri Lanka’s tourism sector.
The month of March proved to be especially lucrative, with 229,298 tourists arriving—highlighting a significant surge in international travel to the country. March also saw the highest number of arrivals in a single week, with 53,113 visitors recorded during the first week alone.
Tourists from a diverse range of countries, including Australia, the United States, China, France, and Germany, have continued to flock to Sri Lanka, underscoring the country’s growing appeal as a global tourist destination.
This strong start to 2025 is a positive sign for Sri Lanka’s tourism industry, signaling a robust recovery and a promising year ahead for the sector.
