Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya has stressed the need to ensure every child’s right to live safely and with confidence, regardless of language, religion or place of residence.
Addressing the National Children’s Day celebration held on October 1 at the Faculty of Engineering Auditorium of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, the Prime Minister said parents, teachers and society as a whole must work together to protect children and create a safe environment for them.
She also highlighted the importance of safeguarding children’s emotional security, mental well-being and self-confidence amid modern social and technological challenges.
The event was organised by the Department of Probation and Child Care Services under the guidance of the Ministry of Women and Child Affairs.
