
Modi reaffirms India's support for Sri Lanka in challenging times

Addressing the gathering, Modi emphasized India's commitment to assist Sri Lanka in overcoming its current challenges. “This is my fourth visit to Sri Lanka, the last being in 2019. Even then, I had full confidence that Sri Lanka would emerge strong,” Modi said. “India has always stood by Sri Lanka as a true and trusted neighbor, especially during difficult times.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted India's support during Sri Lanka's recent economic crisis, the COVID-19 pandemic, and past terrorist attacks, emphasizing the nations' joint efforts to overcome adversity.
He also noted positive momentum in bilateral relations following Sri Lankan President Anura Dissanayake's visit to India, with key developments like the Sampur Power Project strengthening Sri Lanka's energy security. Modi expressed his gratitude for receiving the Sri Lankan Mitra Vibhushan Award, calling it a great honor and thanking the government and people of Sri Lanka.
