Sri Lanka's tourism sector is experiencing a robust start to the year, with over 175,000 international visitors arriving during the first 20 days of February.

The island nation recorded 175,436 tourist arrivals between February 1 and 20, marking a notable 15% increase compared to the same period in 2024. This brings the total number of arrivals for the year so far to 428,197, reflecting a significant 19% year-on-year (YoY) growth.

The data highlights consistent momentum throughout the month, with 61,667 visitors in the first week, followed by 63,164 in the second week. However, from February 15 to 20, the number of arrivals slightly decreased to 50,605. Despite this, the tourism industry remains optimistic about meeting the February target of 310,937 visitors.

To reach this target, Sri Lanka needs an additional 135,501 tourists by the end of the month, which translates to an average of 16,938 daily arrivals for the next eight days. The government and tourism officials are hopeful that Sri Lanka will continue to attract a steady influx of visitors as the year progresses.

This positive trend demonstrates the resilience and growing appeal of Sri Lanka as a tourist destination, attracting travelers from across the globe with its scenic landscapes, rich culture, and vibrant history.
