
We will take SriLanka to a new path of digitalization by 2030 – President

President Dissanayake highlighted the importance of fostering innovation within Sri Lanka, stressing that while the needs of the people remain unchanged, the methods of fulfilling those needs must evolve.
President He explained that new markets are created when the approach to meeting these needs is reinvented, and that success on the global stage comes from adapting to these changes. Drawing inspiration from neighboring India, he noted how countries worldwide have embraced innovation to achieve significant progress.
The President also pointed out that Sri Lanka holds vast opportunities for innovation, with plans to guide the country toward a new era of digitalization by 2030. He affirmed that this goal is reflected in the national budget, which prioritizes innovation and aims to harness new discoveries for commercialization.
Further reinforcing the significance of innovation, President Dissanayake revealed that Sri Lanka is targeting an export revenue of 19 billion dollars this year. However, he emphasized that achieving this goal requires a major transformation in the innovation sector.
The President stressed the government's role in creating an environment that allows innovation to benefit all citizens, while also acknowledging the challenges Sri Lanka faces in global economic competition. He called for international investors to bring new opportunities and investments to the country.
In his concluding remarks, Dissanayake assured that Sri Lanka has already established a favorable environment for business and innovation, with a skilled workforce ready to contribute to the nation's growth.
