Sri Lanka is expected to experience mainly fair weather conditions across most parts of the island in the coming days. However, there is a chance of ground frost forming in certain areas of the Nuwara-Eliya district during the early morning hours.

In addition, misty conditions are likely to affect parts of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, and Uva provinces, as well as the Galle and Matara districts, particularly in the morning.

Residents in these areas should take precautions against the cold and misty weather, especially in the affected regions, where visibility may be reduced.

Weather Forecast for Sea Areas Around the Island – 08 February 2025

Rain Conditions: The weather is expected to be mainly fair over the sea areas surrounding the island over the next 24 hours, with minimal rainfall expected.

Winds: Winds will be blowing from the north-east at speeds between 25 and 35 km/h. However, the wind speed may occasionally increase to 45-50 km/h in the sea areas off the coast, specifically between Colombo and Mannar via Puttalam, as well as from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota.

State of the Sea: The sea conditions in the areas extending from Colombo to Mannar via Puttalam, and from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota, will be fairly rough at times, making it hazardous for small crafts and vessels. Mariners are advised to exercise caution when navigating these regions.
