
Extraordinary Gazette Issued Regarding Vehicle Imports

The notification, issued under the authority granted to him by the Imports and Exports (Control) Act, outlines new regulations concerning the importation of vehicles.
The regulations, issued in accordance with Section 20 and Sub-Section 4(1) of the Act, and further amended by Acts No. 48 of 1985 and No. 28 of 1987, authorize the Director General of Sri Lanka Customs to release any goods, including vehicles, imported under a Letter of Credit (LIC) from December 18, 2024, to January 27, 2025. The goods must have arrived at any port or airport in Sri Lanka between December 18, 2024, and July 31, 2025.
This notification aims to streamline the process of releasing goods imported during the specified period, ensuring that customs clearance and regulatory procedures are adhered to in accordance with the new guidelines.
The move comes as part of ongoing efforts by the government to manage imports and control the flow of goods into the country.
