The Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) officially opened the 'Eagle's Viewpoint' to the public today, offering visitors a unique panoramic view from one of Sri Lanka's highest elevated villages, Shanthipura, located at 6,182 feet above sea level.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment, and Tourism, Vijitha Herath, alongside Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksha, the Commander of the Air Force.

The viewpoint, constructed with the support of the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA), aims to not only showcase Sri Lanka’s natural beauty but also promote the country as a top international tourist destination.

The project, which began on July 31, 2024, is expected to contribute significantly to the local economy through tourism development.

Visitors to the ‘Eagle’s Viewpoint’ will be treated to breathtaking views of the Uva Province’s picturesque landscapes, including views of Nuwara Eliya town, Pedro, Pidurutalagala, Hakgala, Lake Gregory, the Kikiliyamana Mountain Range, Adam’s Peak, and the Saptha Kanya Mountain Range.

This new addition is set to attract both local and international tourists, further enhancing Sri Lanka’s tourism appeal.
