The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy rains, effective for the next 24 hours, affecting several regions in the country. The department has advised the residents of the Eastern, Uva, and Central provinces, along with the Polonnaruwa district, to take necessary precautions.
The activation of the northeast monsoon is causing continuous rainy conditions in the Northern, North-Central, Eastern, Uva, and Central provinces.
According to the department's announcement, heavy rains, potentially exceeding 100 mm, are expected in some areas of the Eastern, Uva, and Central provinces, as well as the Polonnaruwa district.
Authorities have urged the public to stay alert and remain informed through official channels, especially in areas prone to flooding or landslides.
