Tenders Called to Import of Nadu Rice

Lanka Sathosa has announced tenders to import 70,000 metric tonnes of Nadu rice from India, according to its chairman, Samitha Perera. Suppliers have been given a seven-day window, starting today (November 29), to submit their quotations.
The imported rice is expected to arrive in Sri Lanka by mid-December. The move follows Cabinet approval last week to import rice as a short-term measure to address the current market shortage.
Authorities aim to stabilize rice supply and prices with this initiative.
