Some Communities in North and East Mark ‘Maaveerar Naal’

Despite heavy rains, people in Kilinochchi held the ‘Maaveerar Naal’ memorial event, with Jaffna District MP Sivagnanam Shritharan sharing footage showing individuals paying tribute to family members killed during the conflict.

Earlier this week, Public Security Minister Ananda Wijepala clarified that commemoration events featuring LTTE symbols, uniforms, or images were prohibited. However, he assured that people in the North were free to remember their relatives as long as they adhered to legal guidelines.
