The Attorney General (AG) informed the Supreme Court today (November 18) that the Office for Reparations has received a total of Rs. 311 million as compensation for the victims of the Easter Sunday terror attacks, in line with a previous court order.
This update was shared by the Additional Solicitor General, appearing on behalf of the AG, during the hearing of Fundamental Rights (FR) petitions related to the attacks.
A three-member Supreme Court bench, comprising Justices Murdu Fernando, S. Thurairaja, and A.H.M.D. Nawaz, presided over the proceedings. The bench instructed the Additional Solicitor General to submit a report detailing how the compensations have been distributed to victims at the next hearing.
The court has scheduled the petitions to be recalled on February 27, 2025.
