Ambika Samuel; Breaking Barriers for Youth and Women in Politics
Acknowledging on her historic achievement, Samuel emphasized that her entry into politics is a milestone not just for herself but for the entire plantation community. She believes this success paves the way for young people from the plantation sector to step into leadership roles.
“I am the first to enter politics from here, and my brothers and sisters will undoubtedly follow. These young individuals have incredible talent and a sincere desire to serve the country. They’ve been held back by outdated frameworks for too long, but now those barriers have been broken,” Samuel stated.
She also highlighted the critical role of women in leadership, noting that societal norms have often confined women to traditional roles.
“Women have been restricted to the kitchen, but they are capable of so much more. With this first step, I believe we’ll see more women rising to leadership positions in Parliament and beyond,” Samuel added, expressing hope for a more inclusive political future.
