Ven. Battaramulle Seelarathana Thero, who ran in the 2024 Parliamentary Election from the Colombo District, has raised doubts about the preferential vote results for the Colombo and Gampaha Districts, alleging potential irregularities.

The Thero criticized the delay in announcing the results for these districts and called on the Elections Commissioner General to provide clarity to the public.

He also accused the National People’s Power (NPP) of hypocrisy, pointing out internal conflicts over preferential votes despite their campaign's focus on collective party support.

“I don’t trust these preferential vote results. It’s unbelievable how some candidates’ votes jumped to six, seven, or even eight lakhs. Where did such numbers come from?” he questioned.

Ven. Seelarathana Thero contested under the Janasetha Peramuna using the “Tractor” symbol but received only 970 votes in the Colombo District. The party's preference votes were not considered, as it failed to secure the required 5% of total votes in the district.
