In a significant development following the 2024 parliamentary elections, the National People's Power (NPP) has officially submitted its list of national list members to the Election Commissioner, Mr. Saman Sri Ratnayake. The submission comes after the NPP secured 18 seats in parliament as per Article 99A of the Sri Lankan Constitution.

The party's General Secretary, Dr. Nihal Abeysinghe, personally forwarded the list to the Election Commissioner. The national list allocation allows the NPP to appoint members who will represent the party in parliament, complementing its directly elected members.

The 2024 elections saw a major shift in the political landscape, with the NPP emerging as a key player in the country’s legislative affairs. The national list is an essential part of the electoral process, aimed at ensuring a more inclusive representation in the parliament.

This move by the NPP is expected to have significant implications on the legislative agenda and further solidify the party’s position within the political framework of Sri Lanka.
